Will Cowan, IU Library
February 3, 2014 (Monday)
2:00 pm – 5:00 pm (with break)
Wells Library Information Commons Cluster 1
While the primary focus of this session will be on more advanced topics, we will begin with the basics of Omeka. What is it? how do I use it? Where can I get it?, etc. In addition, I will discuss how to install Omeka on IU’s Webserve environment where faculty and staff can set up web server accounts. I also want to discuss some advance topics such as using spreadsheets to load items and metadata into Omeka and how to add and maintain plugins. Finally, I want to discuss plugins and how to develop them showing the files and techniques you will need to be aware of if you decide you need to develop your own plugins. I will discuss and demo a plugin I developed for streaming video playback in Omeka and show some of the files and code I have developed.
