Personal
Use
CALM envisions a County run permit system in which after paying
a permit fee, an adult could grow within their residence a limited
amount of Marijuana for personal use. There would be no
commercialization of Marijuana and there would be no allowance
for the selling of Marijuana.
STATEMENT OF OUR TIMES
Sometimes in its zeal to protect its citizenry, a government can
find itself floundering in a sea of absurdity. Today, this great
country of ours finds itself in that situation. In a knee-jerk
reaction to Marijuana or what is more traditionally known as hemp,
many of our leaders have jettisoned common sense and have proceeded
to march down a road which they themselves, trumpet to be a war.
A war against an herb. An herb which has historically been
of great benefit to humankind.
Marijuana
has been used throughout history as a medicine.
It's fiber has been, and is still used today for the production
of
rope and cloth. It is also, to many, a religious substance, a
gift from God to man. For others it is just a pleasant relaxing
time, somewhat like alcohol, but without the physical poisoning
affects.
Yet
the powers that be, have spent billions of dollars; for the incarceration
of the good folks of this country; millions for research specifically
designed to demonize Marijuana; and millions more for Gestapo
police operations that have soiled that most wonderful of all
legal documents, the Bill of Rights. Enough is enough! CALM
passionately advocates an end to this insanity. The time to legalize
Marijuana is now!
CALM
also understands that any substance can and will be abused in
a free society. This is one of the natural aspects of freedom.
In a nation of over 200 million people, with the legalization
of Marijuana, there will be some irresponsible people who will
abuse Marijuana. Though this number will be small, there will
be those who will try to magnify this problem so as to discredit
the legalization effort, but we, the people have historically
been proud of our strength in freedom. We instinctively
know that it is unjust to withdraw basic rights from the citizenry
because of the actions of a reckless few.
Instead,
you make available effective educational programs that emphasize
the concept of responsible use. CALM is committed to such
programs and has as one of its objectives the development of programs
that will pro-actively communicate the responsible use of Marijuana.
The future looks bright for this great Nation not because it can
build bigger and better prisons, but because this country has
within its bosom, a constitution that not only allows a change
in bad government policy, but inevitably forces such a change.

If you know any other people who are interested in ending this
insane Marijuana prohibition, please let them know of our existence.
We intend to make a difference.
