Graduate Student Career Advising
Drop-in advising
In order to more effectively serve graduate students and their specialized needs, drop-in advising services are not available to graduate students. Graduate students who seek career advisement may request an hour-long advising appointment (see below).
Hour-long advising
Effective August 17, 2009: If you are a graduate student within The College of Arts and Sciences, your first advising session is free each fiscal year (they are funded by The College). For each advising session thereafter, you must pay $25.
If you are an IUB graduate student outside of The College of Arts and Sciences, you must pay $25 for each advising session. Should you and your advisor agree that certain assessments are necessary (for example, a personality inventory), additional fees may apply.
When payment is required, please pay at least 24 hours before your appointment, either with exact change in cash or with a check payable to Indiana University. We can only take payments in the Career Development Center main office, which is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Requesting an appointment
If you'd like an appointment, submit a request through our online system. We will assign an advisor to you and email you the advisor's contact information. You will need to contact the advisor directly to set up an appointment. For bookkeeping reasons, we must require that you use the online system even for follow-up appointments.
