On-Campus Interviews
Each year (from October through April), employers come to Arts & Sciences Career Services to interview students for internships and full-time positions. Here is the information you’ll need to get started.
Eligibility
To participate in on-campus interviews, you must have an active IUCareers.com account and have uploaded your Word resume. All IUB students can register with IUCareers.com for free.
Recruiting Schedules
You can find employer interview schedules on IUCareers.com. There are two types of interview schedules.
- Open Schedule: If you meet the employer requirements, online interview sign-ups are on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Preselect Schedule: The employer reviews resumes and indicates which students would be allowed to sign up for an interview. If you are interested in an opportunity that has a preselect schedule, forward your cover letter and resume to the employer through IUCareers.com by the deadline designated by the employer. You will receive an e-mail if you have been selected to sign up.
Applying for Opportunities
Each opportunity will include information about how to apply. Some employers want you to apply via IUCareers.com, and they choose to manage their interview schedules online. Some employers ask for your resume and cover letter through the mail or email, and contact students directly to schedule interviews. It is critical that you carefully read and follow all instructions.
Cancellation Policy
You may remove yourself from an interview schedule on IUCareers.com anytime before the end of the online sign-up period. No cancellations are allowed after the sign-up period ends. Be sure to pay attention to the sign-up schedule for each position.
No-Show Policy
If you are scheduled for an interview and you do not attend:
- You will immediately be suspended from the Arts & Sciences Career Services on-campus recruiting program
- You will be removed from any other employer schedules (your interviews will be cancelled)
- Your resume will be deleted from the resume book in IUCareers.com
- To be reinstated in IUCareers.com, you will be required to make a formal apology to the employer you stood-up. Contact our office for information about how to do this. Reinstatement is at the discretion of our office.
Information/Pre-Night Sesions
Some employers hold sessions prior to the start of their interview schedule.
- Information Sessions: These sessions are open to all interested students and may occur well before an employer’s recruiting visit.
- Pre-Night Sessions: These sessions are for students who are scheduled to interview with the employer. Attendance is mandatory in most cases. Absences from the pre-night should be discussed with the recruiter ahead of time.
Remember that you only have one chance to make a first impression. We recommend suitable business attire.
