Things to Know:

  • All catalogued library acquisitions shall be capitalized. There are no limitations as to the total cost spent per unit. Departmental purchases of manuals or other professional guides not catalogued in the university library system will not be capitalized.
  • For further details on capitalization definitions, policies and procedures, see the FMS Capital Asset Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Correct Object Code must be utilized on the purchase and disbursement documents.
  • Contact FMS and Library with questions.

Note: Electronic resources such as Ebooks, Ejournals, Databases, and Institutional Memberships will not be capitalized as IU does not retain ownership of this material, but instead is only purchasing the rights to access them.
