 Before and After
 ****************************
Can I sit in on this class if I am not enrolled?

Sure.  We are delighted to have you, and we welcome visitors from the IU and the Bloomington community.  Because this is such a large class, however, we have set some basic guidelines.

  •  If you are a visitor to the class, you will need to sit in the last two rows of Woodburn 100 only.  The students enrolled in this class are required to attend, and have assigned seats. If you sit elsewhere, you may find yourself sitting in a student's assigned seat, making it difficult for us to take attendance.
  • It is not possible for us to accommodate visitors in the weekly discussion sections, just in the lectures.
  • Our lectures will be videotaped by WTIU, and we need to minimize distractions.  If you are going to visit our class, please show up promptly and stay until class is over.
  • The visiting policy is for SILENT auditors only.  Even if the professor giving the lecture asks for questions, comments, or ideas, we ask that you remain silent and allow the students who are getting credit for the class to participate.  This holds true even if the students are quiet and not responding, or even if it is a hot button issue for you and you are dying to say something.  We want to be accessible to the broader community, but our priority has to be to the students who are getting credit for the class and who have paid to be there.  Although in general we value a lively discussion, this particular class is not a public forum for debate.
