Indiana is the yellow state on the U.S.A. map below. Our area of the United States is called the Midwest, which is mostly farming country. Southern Indiana has rolling hills and limestone caves; northern Indiana is largely flat plains land. The neighboring states are Illinois on the west, Ohio on the east, Michigan to the north, and Kentucky to the south. Chicago is just right of the northwestern tip of Indiana, about a four hour drive from Bloomington. As you can see, we are closer to the eastern coast than the western coast, and it only takes about two hours to fly to cities like Washington, DC; Baltimore; New York; and Boston.
