IU Bloomington CommencementYou Must Apply to GraduateAll degree candidates must apply to graduate in order for recorders and the registrar to confirm final grades, to receive Commencement packets and to have their names printed in the Commencement program. Each school or department has its own procedure and deadlines for applying for graduation. You may still graduate if you apply after this deadline, but your name will not appear in the Commencement program book. If you don’t apply, you won’t graduate. Instead, student files are reviewed to make sure that graduation requirements have been met. University Graduate SchoolStudents graduating with a Ph.D. degree fill out an Application for Advanced Degree only if they are participating in the Commencement ceremony. If they are not participating, they do not need to complete an application.
