Awards and Honors

Indiana University recognizes the accomplishments of outstanding individuals in a number of ways. Some receive honorary doctorates, the highest academic recognition that IU can bestow. Honorary degrees are awarded only after intense scrutiny, and upon the approval of the faculty, the president, and the trustees of the university. Others receive Distinguished Alumni Service Awards from the Indiana University Alumni Association, Chancellor’s Medallions at the regional campuses and the Urban University Medal at IUPUI.
