This course is an introduction to the structure of Turkic languages. The course will provide an overview of all level of structure: sound system (phonology), word-formation (morphology) and syntax. We will look at the similarities and differences among Turkic languages to see how each individual Turkic language is both similar in all level of structure to other and unique in its own particulars.
Prerequisites: No previous course work in linguistics is assumed. Two semesters of a Turkic language or permission of instructor.
