This class will be based on the book /Snyan ngag spyi don/ by /Alags Tse tan Zhabs drungn/ (1910-1980). Tibetan poetic techniques can be found in almost every work of Tibetan Literature. Thus it essential to have a good understanding of these techniques in order to deepen one's knowledge of Tibetan studies in general.
/Snyan ngag spyi don/ ("General Commentary on Poetry") deals with three chapters of /Snyan ngag me long/ or in Sanskrit, /Kavdarshaya/, written by Acharya Dandi. Specifically, we will focus on Chapters Two and Three, which deal with the ornaments of sounds and ornaments of meaning.
