Intermediate Estonian I

Course Objectives

The course builds on the skills acquired during elementary courses and will follow an integrated approach of developing reading, speaking, listening and writing skills through a variety of communicative language learning activities.

Topics covered during the first year will be reviewed in more detail and new topics, such as seasons, holidays, traditions and customs added. Longer reading texts are introduced. Listening comprehension is further trained with the help of video materials. The aim is develop conversation skills beyond the structured exchanges learned at the Intro level.

Assignments

Classroom participation is required.

Daily homework, daily journal, quizzes and tests, midterm exam and final exam will be administered.

Departmental Policies

The Department of Central Eurasian Studies no longer allows auditing of language courses. Any inquiries must be addressed to CEUS Chair directly.
Students enrolled in CEUS language courses obtain a grade at the end of each semester. The Department does not offer pass/fail options.
Incompletes are not given in CEUS language courses. Any inquiries must be addressed to CEUS Chair directly.

If you are a native speaker of a language or you are a citizen of the country or you graduated from a high school from the country, Indiana University and departmental policy may (or may not) prohibit you from enrollment in this language class.
