DBN CHEMREACT - The CHEMREACT Reaction Search System
DESC CHEMREACT is a reaction-based chemical reaction database containing
about 300,000 organic reactions selected from published reactions in
the chemical literature of 1975-1988. The basic data originate from
the VINITI/ZIC structural database, which has been built jointly by
the All-Union Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of
the Academy of Science of the former USSR (VINITI) in Moscow and the
Zentrale Informationsverarbeitung Chemie (ZIC) in Berlin. The
structural database encompasses information on 2.2 million organic
and organometallic compounds, published between 1975-1988.
CHEMREACT is a subset of this large database. The reaction number
is the Accession Number in CHEMREACT, with one reaction per record.
The database is in English.
The records contain reaction information consisting of structure
diagrams for reactants and products; CHEMREACT Registry Numbers for
all reactants, products, solvents, and catalysts; chemical names for
solvents and catalysts; stereochemistry of the products and
reactants; yields for many products; and, textual reaction
information. The reactants and products are structure-searchable
with a single reaction query. Roles, reaction sites, and mapping of
atoms between reactants and products are also structure-searchable.
The CHEMREACT Registry Numbers for all reaction participants, their
roles, stereochemistry of products and reactants, the textual
reaction information, and yields are searchable. The records also
contain bibliographic information.

DBN GFI - GFI Gmelin Formula Index and Complete Catalog
DESC The GFI (Gmelin Formula Index) file contains the Formula Index and
the Complete Catalog. These two components are valuable supplements
to the Gmelin Handbook of Inorganic Chemistry, which is the most
comprehensive reference book for inorganic, organometallic and
physical chemistry. The primary objective of the Handbook is the
systematic classification and presentation of all data published in
these fields. All data are critically examined for reliability
prior to publication in the Handbook.
The Gmelin Formula Index mostly contains information for locating
articles on specific chemical substances in the printed Handbooks.
In addition to molecular formulas, a controlled vocabulary list is
given which helps to locate the data in the Handbook. The short
form title is the key to finding a substance in the Handbook and is
the logical connection to the Complete Catalog.
The Gmelin Complete Catalog is a compilation of all Gmelin Handbooks
printed to date. The catalog has abstracts for all Gmelin Handbooks
as well as bibliographic information. An entry in the Complete
Catalog describes a complete Handbook, which may contain
descriptions for several hundred chemical substances.
