Included in the table below are links to lecture notes or outlines covering all of the C471 lessons. In addition, there is a link on the schedule to supplementary material on the Internet (SIRCh and CCIIM) that is relevant to each topic. In general, SIRCh (Selected Internet Resources for Chemistry) contains links to factual sources on the Web where you can get answers to questions you might have. CCIIM (Clearinghouse for Chemical Information Instructional Materials) provides Web links to materials that are designed to instruct people in the use of the reference tools that are relevant to chemistry. There is some overlap between the two supplemental Web resources.

There are 8 exercises (which count 40 points each), eight problem sets (60 points each), four quizzes (40 points each), and a final paper (40 points) for a total of 1,000 possible points in the course. The exercises correspond to the material in the first two sections of the course, and the problem sets correspond to the second two sections. However, notice that there are two exercises linked at each of the first four weeks. Each homework assignment is due at the beginning of the class following the one where the link is found in the table below. The pre-test and quizzes are linked on the dates when they are due.

There are four short quizzes and a pre-test that must be taken on Oncourse.
