Finding Preparations on STN When You Know the MF of the Product

Arrange the molecular formula in Hill System order:
- If C is present-C first, H second, other elements alphabetical
- If C is not present-elements in alphabetical order
Connect to STN.
Locate the CAS RN for the product in the REGISTRY file:

=> FILE REGISTRY	Enter the REGISTRY FILE
=> E C8H6CL5NO2/MF E1 11 C8H6CL5NO/MF E2 1 C8H6CL5NO.CLH/MF E3 5 C8H6CL5NO2/MF	EXPAND to verify the molecular formula is in the Molecular Formula (MF) index
=> S E3 L1 5 C8H6CL5NO2/MF	Search E-number corresponding to the MF of interest
=> D SCAN	Scan answers at no charge; if more than one answer, find unique name segment
=> S L1 AND PYRIDINE L2 1 L1 AND PYRIDINE	Isolate answer of interest by combining the original answer set with name segment
=> D L2 1 IDE	(Optional) Display answer in IDE format to see more detail

Locate references citing preparations in the CAplus file:

=> FILE CAplus	Enter the CAplus FILE
=> S L2/P L3 1 L2/P	Locate references citing preparations
