Conferences


The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies sponsors and hosts a variety of academic conferences, lectures, and symposia throughout the year. These conferences foster dialogue between faculty and practitioners and help to promote research in a variety of disciplinary and professional fields.

Graduate Student Conference

Now in its third year, the CLACS Graduate Student Conference brings together Masters and Ph.D. students from all over the U.S. each Spring to present and discuss cultural, social, and political phenomena in Latin American and the Caribbean.

Where is the "World" in Popular Music?

This conference was organized by CLACS and held in September 2012. Scholars were brought together to negotiate areas, genres and the global though the meaning of musical practice. Check out the conference website for more on the conference and presenters.
