Students

Derek Gleason is a second year Masters student at CLACS. His principal area of focus is history, specifically modern El Salvador. Other academic interests include memorial culture and U.S.-Latin America Cold War relations.

Eric Stumpner is a second year Masters student at CLACS. His research focuses on discourses and forms of resistance in modern Latin America, the use of race and ethnicity to preserve land and political rights, modern social movements, political ramifications of ethnography, with a general focus on Nicaragua, particularly in the revolutionary period.

Julia Sorcinelli is a first year Masters student at CLACS. Her principal area of interest is Caribbean Studies, with a focus on Dominican history and culture during and after the Trujillo dictatorship. She is also interested in how Dominican-Haitian relations changed during and after the Trujillo regime.  Finally, she would like to gain experience in community/regional planning and development in Latin America.

LaNita Campbell is a first year Masters student at CLACS. Her research nterests include public health promotion in Latino communities in the U.S. and the issue of cultural competency in health education in clinics and hospitals. She is also interested in questions of sexual identity and gender in the Southern Cone regions of South America.
