Minority Languages & Cultures Project

The Minority Languages and Cultures Project (MLCP) brings together scholars who share the aims of revitalizing subordinate languages in Latin America, documenting the cultures of the communities that speak them, and monitoring the play of language and culture in the ethnic and regional politics of this zone.

The MLCP supports the study of four less commonly taught languages, Quechua, Yucatec Maya, Haitian Creole and Portuguese. In addition to offering language courses, CLACS also offers Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships for graduate study in these four languages.
