Arts Council » Literary Arts
My name is Rachel Carpenter, a sophomore at IU majoring in English and Folklore. I am also the Literary Arts Coordinator. This essentially just means I help students who would like to put on literary-inclined programs here at Collins as well as adding some of my own making into the mix. Some such programs have included A Picture’s Worth a Thousand Words—an event in coordination with the Photography Coordinator, which allowed for students to develop both their writing skills as well as developing a photographic eye. Students wrote stories inspired by chosen photographs and took pictures based upon a chosen piece of literature. Some other programs I have been involved in include a Zine-making workshop and facilitating the Collin’s Writers Society, a creative writing group that allows for writing and peer editing. As with all Literary Arts programs, these activities are open to all students of every level of literary experience and interest. You can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
