CMFK! owes its existence to the kindly donated time of a good number
of volunteers. This year, the IU Bloomington chapter consists of
60 mentors and a number of staff members. To talk to us about joining,
or if you have questions that are not answered below, contact us
at cmfk@indiana.edu.
Mentors
Mentors meet in groups with their buddies weekly, on either Wednesday
or Thursday afternoons, from 3:30 - 5:30. Mentors usually sign up
at the beginning of the year -- they make a commitment to keep the
same block of time, on the same day of the week, open for second
semester. They must also attend an interview before being selected,
and attend a training session before the program starts.
E-mail us if you are interested in being a mentor, even if we've
already started for the year. We'll put your name down as a possible
replacement in the event another mentor is unable to continue, and
we'll contact you when we're starting up for next year. Ask about
joining staff, as well, if you would still like to help out.
Staff
Staff members take care of all the logistical stuff necessary to
keep the program going. Helping to coordinate things with the schools,
setting up snack for activities, applying for grants and donations,
and other tasks are less enticing than being a mentor, but the program
cannot run without them. If you are interested in joining staff,
e-mail us -- odds are we could
use you.
