The Student Advisory Board of Comparative Literature is pleased to welcome you to our community at Indiana University Bloomington. The inception of the Student Advisory Board of Comparative Literature (SAB) dates back to 1972 when several students wanted to better connect the department, its students, and the surrounding campus. As of result, the main goals of the SAB are to foster a greater communication among the students, to create more opportunities for social and professional exchanges, and to help promote comparative studies in general. The SAB accomplishes these goals by putting together events, acting as a resource for prospective students, and serving on departmental and campus committees.

In particular, the SAB organizes social and academic gatherings throughout the year, such as our Ruminations with professors and social activities with other departments. We also organize academic events, such as the colloquia series, which you can learn more about by clicking on the menu tabs to the left or at the bottom of this page. Moreover, the SAB represents and coordinates the input of graduate students for departmental decisions and campus-wide organizations like the Graduate and Professional Student Organization (GPSO). Since this page is meant to serve the department’s students and allies, we welcome your ideas, concerns, and questions in order to improve it.
