Arts and Sciences Indiana Scholars Award

Description:

This scholarship is intended to support incoming freshmen with resident status in Indiana who have been offered Direct Admission to a major in The College of Arts and Sciences. It may be combined with other awards from Indiana University with the exception of the Wells Scholarship, the Cox Research Scholarship, or any other comprehensive scholarship.

Eligibility:

  • Must have Indiana resident status at the time of application to IU
  • Must have indicated an intended major in the College of Arts and Sciences at the time of application to IU
  • Must be admitted to IU’s freshman class for the coming academic year
  • Must have received an offer of Direct Admission to The College of Arts and Sciences
  • Outstanding academic achievement in high school

Application Process:

The College of Arts and Sciences utilizes IU’s online Selective Scholarship Application (SSA) to simultaneously identify exceptional students for Direct Admission and for the Arts and Sciences Indiana Scholars Award. Notification of a student’s SSA eligibility is issued via email and in the IU admission packet. Recipients are chosen by the College’s Direct Admission Selection Committee. Notification of this award is included with letters of invitation for Direct Admission to the College of Arts and Sciences, which are issued on a rolling basis between December 1 and March 1.

Award:

This award is valued at $4,000 ($1,000 per year) and is renewable for up to four years (8 semesters). The number of recipients varies each year. Recipients must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours (full-time enrollment) each semester on the Bloomington campus, make appropriate progress towards degree completion, maintain a 3.000 cumulative GPA, and adhere to the IU Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct.

Deadline:

All students admitted to the Bloomington campus by December 18, 2009 who indicate an intended major in the College of Arts & Sciences and who meet initial eligibility criteria are invited to complete a Selective Scholarship Application. The SSA (including the required letters of recommendation) MUST be completed and returned by the date specified on the application for consideration.
