  1. What is the deadline for domestic applications?
    Answer: January 15th
  2. What is the deadline for international applications?
    Answer: December 1st
  3. Is there a required length for the writing sample?
    Answer: No, there are no length requirements for the writing sample.
  4. What items need to be submitted directly to the Graduate Studies Office of the Department of Comparative Literature?
    Answer: Domestic applicants should submit the following application materials to the Graduate Studies Office of the Department of Comparative Literature: completed application, three (3) letters of recommendation, all relevant transcripts, GRE scores, statement of purpose, and writing sample.
  5. For international applicants, what items need to be submitted directly to International Admissions?
    Answer: International applicants should submit the following application materials directly to International Admissions: completed application for admission, all relevant transcripts, and financial information.  The following materials are to be submitted to the Graduate Studies Office of the Department of Comparative Literature: three (3) letters of recommendation, statement of purpose, GRE scores, TOEFL score, and writing sample.

  8. Is there a special form for financial aid application?
    Answer: No, all applicants are considered for financial aid if their application and              application materials are received on or before the relevant deadline(s).
  9. May my recommenders send their letters of recommendation directly to the Department of Comparative Literature?  Is there a special form recommenders should use?
    Answer: Yes, your recommenders may submit their letters of recommendation by e-mail (mphuskey at indiana.edu), by Applyourself, or by postal services. There is a form they need to fill out. Please direct your recommenders to Applyourself for on-line submission, or alternatively, you may print out the recommendation form for them.
  10. May I submit my statement of purpose or writing sample directly to the Graduate Studies Office of the Department of Comparative Literature?
    Answer: Certainly, you may submit your statement of purpose and writing sample directly to mphuskey at indiana.edu.

  13. Do you accept applications for admission year round?
    Answer: The Department of Comparative Literature only accepts applications each fall semester.
  14. When will I be notified with a decision about my application?
    Answer: Normally, applicants may expect a decision between mid February and March. To inquire about the status of your application or application materials please contact Mary Huskey via e-mail (mphuskey at indiana.edu).
  15. Are photocopies of my test scores (e.g., GRE or TOEFL) accepted?
    Answer: Only original test scores are accepted. No photocopies, please.
  16. Are photocopies of transcripts accepted?
    Answer: Only original transcripts in sealed envelope(s) from the degree granting institution are accepted. Again, no photocopies are accepted.
