Emilia Whited, Class of 2009, is currently majoring in Philosophy and pursuing certificates in Central Eurasian Studies and Honors. She has a fascination with Turkey and is falling in love with learning the Turkish language.
Emilia is currently a Resident Assistant in the Northwest neighborhood. She also serves as a representative to the Resident Assistant Advisory Council and the Residential Programs and Services Alcohol Workgroup. Additionally, she works at the Briscoe Fitness and Wellness Center as a Desk Monitor. During her freshman year, she served as a Floor Representative for the McNutt Student Government, Judicial Board member, Vice President of the McNutt Honors Leadership Council, and IU Auditorium Usher.
Originally from Evansville, Indiana, Emilia graduated with honors as part of the first four-year full-day class from Signature School in 2006. Signature School is the first charter high school in the state of Indiana and during her senior year, Signature School was named the 54th best public high school in the United States by Newsweek magazine and listed as one of the top 10 charter schools. She was Student Council President, a member of the National Honors Society, Committee Chairperson for Prom, and Spanish Club Creator and President. She also worked nearly full time Hosting and Host Training at Biaggi’s Ristorante Italiano. She maintains this job when she visits home.
This summer, Emilia is looking forward to doing a housing and conferences internship through the Association of College and University Housing Officers – International (ACUHO-I). Emilia plans on immediately pursuing her Masters Degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs when she graduates next spring. Beyond that, Emilia would like to eventually go to Law School and continue following her love of world travel.
Emilia enjoys finding new campus activities and resources, bonding with her residents over “chick shows” like Grey’s Anatomy, swimming, and doing logic puzzles.
