About CRES

The Center for Research in Environmental Sciences (CRES) was a research center of the Office of the Vice Provost for Research at Indiana University Bloomington (OVPR) from 2008 through June 30, 2012.

CRES is transitioning into a new integrated program in the environment to encompass collaborative academics, research, and outreach in environmental science and sustainability. See the IU news release: IU Center for Research in Environmental Sciences transitions to Integrated Program in Environment. Within a few months, a Web site with details about the new program will be available.

Mission statement
The mission of the Center for Research in Environmental Sciences (CRES) was to facilitate multidisciplinary research activities and funding in environmental sciences across Indiana University.

Goals and activities
CRES served as an umbrella organization at Indiana University, to facilitate the common pursuit of the highest quality multidisciplinary research in environmental sciences across the School of Public and Environmental Affairs, the various departments of the College of Arts and Sciences, and other units in the IU system. It provided environmental scientists at IU a collaborative and supportive environment to develop multidisciplinary projects that enhanced research productivity, external funding for their research, and recruitment of top graduate students.
