This course offers an intensive examination of the prisonization process, that is, how prisoners adapt and internalize the values, norms, and customs of prison society. Class sessions will be devoted to a discussion of major issues that incarcerated men and women must confront. Two class trips are planned: one to the Wabash Correctional Center and the second to the Indiana Women's Prison.
