Conference Travel Grants

Applications for funding of faculty travel to conferences in North America will be evaluated and awards made twice a year. Grants will not exceed $500. Faculty are encouraged to combine CSME funding with other sources. Only affiliated faculty are eligible for support. Please contact CSME for information on becoming a faculty affiliate.

The fall application deadline is October 10th for travel that will be completed by the following January. If you intend to participate in a late fall conference for which you have not received official acceptance, please apply by mid-September and forward acceptance when it is received. The spring application deadline is February 10th for travel that will be completed before the start of the next academic school year.

Funding priority will be ranked in order of the following:

1. Paper presenters
2. Organizational officers whose attendance is required for committee or board meetings
3. Round table participants and panel commentators
4. Panel discussants
5. Panel chairs
6. All others

There are no application forms. Applications should be submitted in the form of a memo either on paper or by e-mail to csme@indiana.edu and should include:

1. Faculty name and affiliations
2. Updated Contact Information
3. Title of Conference
4. Confirmation of conference invitation
5. A short abstract or title of paper or 1 paragraph statement of importance of faculty member's attendance.

After the applications are ranked according to the above priorities, a final funding decision will be made as soon as possible after the application deadlines. Consideration will be given to the significance of the conference and the number of times CSME has supported the faculty member's travel in recent years.
