The Indiana Poll, established in 1982, is an omnibus telephone survey covering a wide range of topics related to current social, economic, and political issues. Since its inception, the Center has conducted two Indiana Polls each year. The Poll is a scientifically selected sample of adult Indiana residents obtained through a random-digit-dialing procedure. Within each multiple-adult household, one adult is randomly selected to be interviewed.
The Indiana Poll gives individuals and organizations the opportunity to "piggyback" their own questions onto a statewide survey at a fixed price per item. Clients receive a data set with their items and a battery of demographic items, a text file of all notes taken during interviews, and an SPSS program file.
Clients of the Indiana Poll have ranged from academic researchers collecting data for basic research to state agencies and nonprofit organizations that want specific information for public policy decisions.
