Cultural Studies Adjunct: Ted Striphas
Professor Striphas received his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002. His research interests include: the history of media and technologies of comunication, cultural studies, and the philosophy of communication. Specifically, Professor Striphas focuses on how the history of books, ostensibly an "old" technology, intersects with and is conditioned by that of television, cinema, computers, and other "new" media forms. Given the overlap of these histories, his work helps to challenge historiographical distinctions between "old" and "new" media.
