Afro-american Studies | Afro-American Art II: Afro-American Artists
A352 | 0394 | Prof. William E. Taylor

Students will study the development of the Afro-American visual artist
from a crafsperson in slavery to national recognition as artist of the
mainstream in the 1980s. As the class progresses in each
Afro-American movement time period, the influence of the social and
political moods on the Afro-American visual artist will be included in
the course--thus enabling the student to have a better understanding
of how and why the Black artists produced as they did/do and what
meaing the works had to the artists and their viewers.
