Course Format: Lecture: 9:30A-10:45A, TR, JH 239.  The class is LARGE.
Discussion is encouraged in class and privately.

Prerequisites:  ALGEBRA, NO COMPUTERS. The stated P is "Junior or senior
standing."  Freshmen and sophomores are admitted.  They do seem to find the
course quite difficult.

Course Description: Evolutionary theory is used as the unifying concept of
biology.  Principles of genetics are studied from the perspective of
transmission, molecular genetics and populations.  This is Science.
Students will be expected to ANALYZE information and identify sound
hypotheses.  Simply memory is inadequate.  Problem solving is stressed.

Required Text:  "Human Genetics: Concepts and Applications", by Lewis.

Weekly Assignments: One chapter in text.

Exams/Papers: Three one-hour exams and a comprehensive final.  The lowest
hour exam score is dropped.  Grading is ABSOLUTE. NO CURVE. Exams are
objective but do require careful reading and thought.
