(3 cr.) We will read examples of narrative, dramatic, and lyric
literature to reach a better understanding of the characteristics of
these main types, and of their relationships with each other.  The
emphasis will lie on writing of the twentieth century, but some texts
from earlier periods will be included.  German will be used as the
first language of discussion, but English will be available as needed.
Weekly quizzes on vocabulary and content of assignments, two hour
test, and a final examination.
