Prerequisites: None.  No knowledge of Yiddish is required.  All
instructions and readings are in English.  This course will focus on
selected authors and specific topics in Yiddish literature and
culture, in so doing, the social, economic, religious, and political
lives of Yiddish-speaking Jews in Eastern Europe during the late
nineteenth and early twentieth century.  Fulfills: Jewish Studies
Language and Literature course or History and Society course; AHLA;
culture studies requirement-List A.  This course is joint listed as
