The years from World War I to the present have been called the
"American Century," an era in which the United States' military,
economic and cultural power shaped events around the world. This
course looks at American foreign relations during this turbulent time.
It will cover American diplomacy from the 1920s, through World War II,
the cold war, the collapse of empires, the rise of new economic
powers, and the challenges that face us today. Students will have the
opportunity to do their own research using original cables, memoranda,
letters, and declassified documents
