This course will examine the development of the European Economy from
the mid-18th century to the Great Depression. We will focus on two
main issues: (1) the origins and diffusion of the Industrial
Revolution, and (2) the effects of World War I on Europe's position in
the world economy and the factors contributing to the Great
Depression.
