COURSE PREREQUISITES:
Admission to the undergraduate Program in Athletic Training in the
Department of Kinesiology.

CLASS MEETING:
Meets for 50 minutes three days a week

Davis, pub. 1999.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to provide knowledge of the underlying scientific
basis for selection and use of therapeutic modalities in a physically active
population.

The physics and physiology of the thermal therapies and electrotherapies are
discussed.

The use of therapeutic modalities is reinforced by practical clinical
application in a
laboratory experience.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Following completion of this course, the student will be able to
appropriately select and correctly apply those modalities presented in
class.

Additionally, the student will be able to alter the modality selections as
the
athlete's condition changes.

GRADES:
Grades will be determined on three (3) written exams (20% for the first 2
and
25% for the final exam), three (3) laboratory exams (10% each), and a case
study
(5%).
