COURSE PREREQUISITES:
American Red Cross First aid and C.P.R.  This is taught within the course.

CLASS MEETING:
Section 6812 meets for one 75 minute period four times per week for the
FIRST EIGHT WEEKS ONLY!

Sections 6813-6815 meets for one 75 minute period two times per week for
entire semester.

TEXTBOOK:
Obtained at Red Cross office (not available in bookstores)

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course will prepare individuals to effectively assume the duties and
responsibilities of lifeguarding at pools and open water beaches.

Students are required to present an Emergency Action Plan according to
American Red Cross Lifeguarding parameters.

ATTENDANCE:
Students are allowed a maximum of three (3) absences.  Upon a fourth
absence, the student has three (3) options:
1)  receive a grade of F;
2)  officially withdraw from the class;
3)  follow an appeal procedure through your instructor and/or the Elective
Program
Coordinator.

GRADES WILL BE DETERMINED AS FOLLOWS:

Final Test    -   50%
EAP Plan     -   30%
Quizzes       -   20%
