One 50 minute period 3 times a week

Students will learn the basics of microcomputer application programs for the
Windows NT and compatible machines using the STC cluster in HPER 154.
Software covered in the course will be Windows NT 4.0, Netscape, Word, Excel
and PowerPoint.  Fully licensed versions of each program will be provided in
the cluster and in most public clusters on campus.

After successfully completing the class student will be able to:

1.  Use Windows NT 4.0 for normal "housekeeping" functions like formatting,
creating, copying, deleting and renaming files, creating and using
sub-directories, using selected Windows accessory programs.

2.  use Netscape, Student Locker, E-mail and other IU provided utilities,
create and publish a personal web pate.

3.  Use Word to create, retrieve, save and print documents including the use
of special formatting, search and replace, spelling and thesaurus features,
headers, footers, footnotes and endnote features and importing graphics into
documents.  Students will create a project using these features.

4.  Use Excel to create, retrieve, save and print spreadsheets including use
of labels, formulas and functions, formatting, limited data management
and graphing.  Students will create a project using these features.

5.  Use PowerPoint to create, edit, save and print presentation graphics
including text, charts, graphs and images.  Students will use these features
produce a project.

6.  Use Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Netscape to created three projects which
integrate all above applications.

5.  Attendance:  Students are allowed three unexcused absences.  Additional

unexcused absences affect final grade.
