CLASS MEETING:
One 75 minute period two times per week.  Meets with HPER R324

This course if for recreation and park majors only.

DESCRIPTION OF CONTENT:
Exploration and examination of theoretical foundations and basic skills,
methods
and techniques necessary to deliver recreational sport activities within a
variety of
settings and/or organizations.

GOALS OF THE COURSE:
To gain an understanding of the basic competencies required to program
recreational sports including sport terminology, theories of competitive and
cooperative play and philosophical basis and values.  Several units will be
devoted
to tournament scheduling procedures.

REQUIRED BOOK LIST:
Mull, R., Bayless, K., Ross, C., and Jamieson, L. (1997) Recreational Sports
Programming (Third Ed.).
Other assigned readings will be available in a student readings packet from
the various bookstores.

SUMMARY OF THE ASSIGNMENTS:
Exams and the submission of a program concerning the program areas of
intramural sports, informal sports, club sports, fitness and instructional
sports.
