Studies in Directing 2/Topic: Classics

2:30p-4:15p MWF 3 cr. hr.

Prerequisites: Consent of Instructor.

This course addresses the techniques and problems of directing classical scripts, especially those of the Elizabethan and Jacobean periods.

REQUIREMENTS:

ASSIGNMENTS: The major project is directing scenes from one play by Shakespeare, 45 minutes to an hour in length. Related to this is an analysis, as well as a promptbook, annotated bibliography, and several oral reports.

There are three other directing exercises: larger than life presentation; comedy; and sustaining the long speech.
