Prerequisites: P: Biol L112. Strongly recommended C105.
Course Description: Structure and function of DNA, RNA, and protein.
The genetic code, transcription, translation, and DNA replication.
Introduces bacteriophages, plasmids, and basic recombinant DNA
technology. Includes mechanisms and regulation of gene expression as
well as mechanisms of mutation, repair, recombination, and
transposition of DNA.

Weekly Assignments: Collaborative learning worksheets, readings from
textbook.
Exams/Papers: Three midterm exams, comprehensive final and weekly
evaluations of work conducted in collaborative learning groups.
