Course Format: Lecture: 12:20P-1:10P, MWF, JH 440.

Prerequisites:  P: Biol M310 and M350 or Chem C483 or S305.
Recommended M465 concurrently.

Course Description: Nutritional, physiological, and cultural properties
of the major groups of bacteria and their relationships as revealed by
modern taxonomic methods.

W333 - INTENSIVE WRITING: Inform the instructor during the first week
of classes if you wish to take W333 (Intensive Writing) with M460 and
M465 as hosts.

Required Text: "Microbiology" by Perry and Staley.

Weekly Assignments: Reading assignments will be made during class.
Besides this material, the student is urged to familiarize himself or
herself with the periodicals dealing with prokarotic organisms in the
Biology Library.

Exams/Papers: Three exams.  One paper will be assigned (topic may be
one chosen from a list that will be made available).
