Classical Studies | Advanced Prose Composition
L410 | 1057 | Franklin

L410: Advance Prose Composition (3cr.) meets with CLAS L505 from
1:00-2:15P Monday and Wednesday in BH 317

The course is Latin prose compostion, but it will focus as well on
grammar, vocabulary, and sight-reading. The basic text is the
traditional North and Hillard, and we will work our way through the
exercises at a pace in keeping with class abilities. We will of
course review the grammatical and syntactical principles at issue in
each assignment beforehand and will discuss the corrections made ex
post facto. Given the nature of the course, there will be no tests.
Rather, grades will be determined by performances in the written
homework assignments, vocabulary quizzes, and occasional written
sight-reading translations.
