Satisfies AHLA requirements.
The course is intended to introduce undergraduate literature majors to
some of the fundamental theoretical and methodological issues that
have been debated by practitioners of literary studies in general and
comparative literary studies in particular.
We will be reading three kinds of texts: theoretical essays, critical
articles exemplifying various approaches, and selected primary texts.
There will be a midterm exam, a final exam, and a term paper.
