This course will explore questions of identity (personal/ ethnic/
racial/ gender/ national) in a selection of twentieth-century Spanish
American literary works.  In addition to this thematic emphasis we
will also study the structure and form of the genres studied: novella,
short story, drama, essay, and poetry.  Course requirements include
daily participation in class, oral presentations, a midterm and final
exam, a final paper, and several short written assignments.
