Topic: "The art of music teaching"
This course will examine three questions: What makes a great teacher?
What ought to be the aims of studio and classroom teaching in music?
How do experienced studio and classroom music teachers go about their
work? We will draw on readings about these questions. Two important
components of the course will be a practical teaching experience and
visits to the class by professors in the School of Music. The course
will be evaluated by three projects throughout the term. This course
serves as a music elective for B.M. and B.S. with Music as an Outside
Field degrees.
