Sociology | Introduction to Sociology
S100 | 3974 | Duell

The study of Sociology gives us the opportunity to examine the world
around us and see it in new ways. In this introductory course, the
goal is to learn about the wide array of topics studied by
Sociologists. These topics include issues of race, gender,
socialization, inequality, deviance, culture, the family, and more.
This should not be a mundane course involving simply memorizing facts
and statistics. It should be a time to investigate new ways of
thinking critically about the world around us. Many times we simply
accept things the way they are without question. By the end of this
class you should have a good understanding of what Sociology is, a
better picture of the social constructions around us, and the ability
to view everyday situations from new perspectives.
