REGISTRATION IN COAS W333.
The course is organized around five theoretical traditions that have
profoundly shaped both modern sociology and, more generally,
contemporary social and political discourse: rational choice,
Durkheimian, Marxian, Weberian, and symbolic interactionist theory.
Our focus will be on the original works of the major theorists, but
we will briefly consider a few contemporary developments within each
tradition. The course will emphasize ongoing written and oral
student interaction with these social theories.
