This is a survey course which will cover the history of western
European-based clothing from ancient times to the present.  A lecture
format with slides will be used to illustrate concepts.  The class
will use social history as a background for evolving clothing styles.

TEXT:  Costume History and Style by Douglas Russell

EXAMS:  2.  One mid-term and one final consisting of short answers and
essay questions.

A small, historical design project wil be due for each of the
seven units.  This will consist of drawing and designing costume ideas
based on various historic periods.
