Fine Arts | COAS TOPICS Course: Sketchbooks, Diaries, and Logs
S103 | 0093 | Georgia Strange
This course will demonstrate how artists, writers and scientists
use similar processes of investigation: recording observations,
analysis of information, formulation of insights, all of which lead
to creativity and discovery. In addition to the classroom lecture
and discussion, students will pose questions, record, reflect and
write summations in journals.
Learning will be treated as a navigational process with relevant
outcomes. This will be investigated through three prescribed
exercises. Each student will go on a journey, conduct a scientific
experiment and create artwork. Independent research of a historical
or contemporary figure in the field of their choice will be presented
at the end of the semester.
